In the wee hours of today, Asher Looi almost became the victim of a robbery but was saved because of his amazing abilities picked up from watching too many KungFu shows.
It started off at night when he’d had some drinks in Hartamas and had to drop a friend back to Subang. The friend’s girlfriend was going to pick him in SS15 near First Subang.
So before his gf arrive he ask me to drop him at the 7/11 nearby to buy ciggy. So I did.
At the same time, Looi spotted a red Vios with four suspicious looking Indians in it. He immediately sensed that something sinister was about to go down.
Either they gonna hit the 7/11 or the cafe Donuttes. So I stop in front of 7/11. My car front is facing the shop. Drop my friend to buy his ciggy and I remain in my car with my engine start. There another 2 patron inside when I reach. One came with a hilux and another is motorbike.
Suddenly, the red Vios stopped behind his car across the road, and he just knew that the 7/11 was going to be attacked. The assaulters hesitated though, because there were quite a few people still in the convenience store. The hilux driver and the biker also finsihed their shopping and walked out, along with his friend.
When Looi’s friend came out, he started smoking in front of the shop while on the phone.

Looi quickly opened the car door with one foot still in the vehicle and called out to his friend.
Before he went back into his car, he turned around and stared at the red Vios and the people in it, clearly warning them that he knows what their up to. He did that because most criminals tend to not take further action when you’ve noticed them, to avoid getting into bigger trouble.
So I got back in my car and my friend hop in. He is still smoking his ciggy chillaxing while me all the way looking at my back mirror. Cos he’s smoking and waiting for his gf I have to roll down the window. Both passenger and driver side. And so I’m just telling him the car behind is gonna hit the 7/11 or so. We better get out of here.
Just then, his phone rang and his girlfriend called.
My champion friend answer the phone, open the car door and walk away to talk. Best la.
Almost immediately, the three Indians from the car behind got out with really long parangs.

At that instance, reflex got Looi to lock all his car doors.
Yes with that champion still outside and he walked a fair few steps away from my car talking on the phone with his back facing me walking away.
Once he locked his car, the robber appeared right next time him so the next step was to roll up his window, but the robber managed to squeeze the parang into his car with his left hand and theparang was on his neck, with the right hand trying to pull away his keys. At that point, he quickly held the blunt side of the parang and reached for the reverse gear.
That moment both of his hand is in the car and blessed I’ve manage to put my gear into reverse while waiting for the reverse gear to kick in (it takes a second or so) the robber try to pulls my keys from the ignition. BMW being BMW if are in Drive or Reverse the key cant be taken out. The gear kick in. I am able to reverse now. While my window is still rolling up I reversed my car at a high aggressively.
Because of the sudden reverse, his friend finally turned around —he was still on the phone— and was wondering what was happening. While he reversed his car, the robber pulled out both of his hands the blunt parang scratches my neck— luckily it wasn’t too sharp.

The hands may have been out but half of the parang was still in Looi’s car as his window was sandwiching the weapon. But he just went on full speed ahead which chipped a little bit of the passenger window, but that was okay. The problem was that his friend was still extremely blur of what was happening and that time.
“Bro! Run! Bro, run! Run now!” he’d screamed but his friend was still stoned. Despite his reluctance top open his car door because that might hurt him, he screamed his lungs out:
”SIONG CHEH! SIONG CHEH!” (GET IN THE CAR! GET IN THE CAR! in Cantonese.)
The robber actually threw their parang towards Looi’s car hitting the back, and then towards his friend too, but luckily no damage was done. Finally when his friend came to his senses, he hopped on to his car and they sped off.
Best of all. My friend is still have his one hand on the phone attach to his ear. Champion leh. Right after he got on the car he said this to his gf: “I almost got rob, call you back”
Moral of the story is:
Always be aware of your surroundings for dodgy people, because that would mean getting cut by the parang or getting away. Looi just felt blessed that he didn’t have any major injuries because he said,
I Jackie Chan away.
